Request form

An online tow request form that creates a real job

Last updated

The short answer

An online tow request form lets a customer ask for a truck from your website with their location, vehicle and phone number. In TowSitePros each submission becomes a job on your dispatch board, you are emailed, and the customer is handed a private tracking link.

What does the tow request form ask for?

It asks for what a dispatcher needs to send the right truck: the service, how urgent it is, the customer name and phone, the vehicle, the pickup location and, if it applies, where the vehicle is going. The service list covers towing, flatbed, motorcycle towing, heavy duty, lockout, jump start, tire change, fuel delivery, winch out, accident recovery and other.

Urgency can be emergency, urgent or scheduled, and choosing scheduled reveals a preferred date and time. The vehicle section takes year, make, model, color and drive type, because an all-wheel-drive car changes which truck you send.

How does it help someone standing on a roadside?

It offers a "Use my location" button so the customer does not have to describe a mile marker from memory. They can type an address, an intersection or a landmark instead if the phone will not share, and there is a spot for notes like which lot and which entrance.

The form also keeps a call line in view. The message under the submit button is a suggestion to phone for the fastest service, because some situations are better handled by talking to a person.

What happens the moment a customer submits it?

The request is saved as a job before anything else happens, so a slow email never loses a lead. It appears on your requests list and the dispatch board, you receive an email, and the customer receives one too if they gave an address.

The confirmation screen offers a "Track your request" button that opens their private page. If the customer ticked the box to be texted and texting is on for your company, the text goes out as well, with the consent recorded on the job. If you use GoHighLevel, the lead is also sent there as a contact.

  • A job on the dispatch board with the service, vehicle and pickup filled in
  • An email to you, and a confirmation email to the customer
  • A tracking link on the confirmation screen
  • A text, only when texting is on and the customer agreed
  • A contact in GoHighLevel, when you have connected it

How does the form deal with spam and repeat submissions?

The form has quiet protections that a real customer never sees. A hidden field catches basic bots, very fast submissions are treated with suspicion, and each site has rate limits so a flood cannot bury your board or run up email.

A customer who taps submit twice, or resubmits when the page is slow, is answered with the same job instead of creating a duplicate. If a notification email or a sync ever fails, the request row on your dashboard is marked so you know the lead did not reach you by that route.

What does the request form not do?

It does not dispatch a truck, quote a price or promise an arrival time. A person on your side still reviews the request, sets a quote and an estimated arrival, and assigns a unit, and the customer sees those as you set them.

It also does not take payment. Card payments happen on your own pay-online link after the job, and it does not replace answering the phone for emergencies.

Frequently asked questions

Does the customer need to create an account?

No. They fill in the form and submit it. Their confirmation screen and their tracking page both work without a login.

How will I know a request came in?

It shows up on your requests list and the dispatch board, and you are emailed. If an email or a CRM sync fails, the request is marked so an undelivered lead does not go unnoticed.

Can I add jobs that did not come through the form?

Yes. Log a phone call, a walk-in or a motor-club dispatch from the dashboard and it lands on the same board, with the same tracking link, timeline and texts as a website request.

Does the form record consent to be texted?

Yes. A checkbox asks the customer whether they want updates by text, and when they tick it the time and source are recorded on the job. Texts still only go out when texting is switched on for your company.
