GoHighLevel for towing companies: what connects and what does not
Last updated
The short answer
The GoHighLevel connection sends your new tow leads into GoHighLevel as contacts, books website appointments on your GoHighLevel calendar, and lets texts go out from your own GoHighLevel number. You connect it once with your location ID and a private integration token.
What does the GoHighLevel connection do for a tow company?
It does three things. It sends new service requests and contact messages from your website to GoHighLevel as contacts, it books website appointments against the calendar you pick, and it can be the number your customer texts come from.
Each lead creates or updates a contact with the name, phone, email and pickup address, tagged with where it came from and the service asked for. That gives your follow-up sequences something to work from without anyone copying details across.
- Leads from the request form and the contact form, as contacts
- A booking calendar for appointments made on your website
- Texts sent from your own GoHighLevel number
- A switch to pause the lead sync any time
What do you need before you connect?
You need a GoHighLevel account, the location ID of the location you want to use and a private integration token from that account. You paste both into the Integrations screen, choose a booking calendar and turn on the lead sync if you want it.
If you also want texts to come from your own number, that number has to be registered with the carriers, and you record the registration in your notification settings before texting turns on. The registration and the consent for those messages are yours.
What happens if GoHighLevel is unreachable?
The lead is saved in TowSitePros first, so a sync problem never loses a customer. A failed sync is retried, and the request row in your dashboard is marked when a lead did not reach GoHighLevel so you can see which one to check.
Bookings work the same way. A booking is always kept on your side too, so an appointment is not lost if the calendar cannot be reached when the customer submits.
What stays in your dashboard and what lives in GoHighLevel?
Jobs, dispatch, the driver link, the tracking page and the timeline stay in TowSitePros. GoHighLevel is where you keep the contact, run the follow-up and hold the number.
The lead sync goes one way, into GoHighLevel. The connection writes contacts and books calendar slots. It does not build your pipelines, workflows or campaigns, which you set up in GoHighLevel as usual, and it does not pull GoHighLevel conversations back into your jobs.
What does the connection not do?
It does not make GoHighLevel your dispatcher, and it does not sync a job status, a photo or a receipt across. The job record lives on the dispatch side, and if you need job events in GoHighLevel workflows, webhooks and a tool like Zapier, Make or n8n can carry them.
You also do not need GoHighLevel to use TowSitePros. Texting can go through the platform texting service, and every other part works without it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need GoHighLevel to use this?
No. It is optional. Without it, texts can go out through the platform texting service, appointments are kept in your dashboard, and leads still arrive as jobs with an email to you.
Which leads are sent to GoHighLevel?
Service requests from your request form and messages from your contact form, when the lead sync is on. A lead with no phone number and no email cannot be created as a contact, so it is skipped rather than retried forever.
Can I text customers from my GoHighLevel number?
Yes, once GoHighLevel is connected, you choose it as the texting provider and record that the number is registered with the carriers. Consent for those texts is still yours to collect and is recorded on each job.
Can I disconnect it later?
Yes. There is a disconnect button on the Integrations screen and a switch to pause the lead sync without disconnecting. Your jobs and history stay where they are.
